McEvoy signals Sydney move for Misty Eyes

Wednesday, 22nd May 2013

Blackfriars gelding Misty Eyes will be transferred to Sydney following his last-start victory in Adelaide.

Trainer Tony McEvoy has just opened a stable at Hawkesbury and he’s keen to test the promising sprinter-miler in stronger company after four wins at Morphettville this season.

Misty Eyes (4g Blackfriars – Festival Twig by Papal Power) scored by a half-length under stable jockey Vinnie Colgan in the Henry Brown Hcp (1400m) after being specked into $4.80.  “He looked a 1000/1 chance on the home turn,” McEvoy said.  “But all...

Ignition (2g Oratorio – Sheleenus by Helenus) has banked $105,000 for connections and that’s put his sire in the driver’s seat for a third Sunspeed 2YO title.  “He was still a bit fat after that first win and I knew there was improvement to come,” Smith...

Friday, 17th May 2013

Hard To Express looked a filly with a future after a remarkable debut victory at Belmont on Wednesday.

The daughter of Danehill Express was in commission after winning a Lark Hill trial last month but she looked a forlorn chance when the leaders kicked clear at the furlong.

“She needed every yard of the 1200 metres,” trainer Dan Pearce said after his filly won the Westspeed Nursery Hcp with a whirlwind finish.  “She’s still very raw – this is only the third time she’s galloped on grass.”

Hard To Express (2f...

Moonstone Magic (4m Trade Fair – Woodcock Moon by Kyllachy) resumed from a long spell with a G3 placing in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh last week.  The Ralph Beckett trainee had been sidelined for almost a year after sustaining a pelvic injury in the 2012 English 1000 Guineas.

"I was delighted with the run," Beckett said.  "It was gluey old ground and Pat (Smullen) nursed her to the line.  She's come out of the race well. ...
