Great Interest in WA Breeding Lines

Tuesday, 29th March 2011

A French winning mare in foal to a Newmarket Handicap winner Wanted topped the Magic Millions Perth Autumn Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont on Sunday.  Finishing School, a half sister to Dubai stakes winner Singing Poet, was one of a select group of mares offered at the auction by Mogumber Park as agent for local breeder Paul Fitzpatrick.  The mare eventually went to John Chalmers for $205,000.  Another mare in foal to Wanted, the Group two Guineas winner Moccasin Bend, was the seconf highest of the day, snapped up for $180,000 by Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock Agency.

Sundays sale followed on from the successful sale on the Saturday evening of Oakland Park Stud broodmare sale, where the top price was the stakeswionning broodmare in Jestatune, for $190,000 also bought by Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock Agency.  Boasting a clearance rate of 97%, the Oakland Park dispersal grossed over $1.67 million at an aerage price of $55,733.  The total sale gross was $2.73 million, up by a staggering 2 million on last year.  " A number of more top breeding prospects went under the hammer at Belmont over the weekend and those lots were popular," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester reported.

It just shows breeders that quality broodmares will always fetch good prices!
