Plans for the rapidly-improving Trade Down are up in the air.
The Trade Fair four-year-old gained his third win in succession, and emerged as a potential feature race winner, taking the Belmont Park Midweek Races To Singapore Hcp (1400m) on Saturday.
Trainer George Daly and owner Rick Hart will meet to discuss Trade Down’s future after he runs over 1600 metres back at Belmont Park on Saturday week. “There are a number of options available,” said Daly. “My initial thoughts were that it would be best to then turn him out for a good spell and miss this year’s Ascot carnival. But we are not ruling anything out at this stage.
“He has developed into a powerful horse who is relishing racing and his training routine. He’s gaining the ability to sprint twice in a race and that’s the mark of a very promising horse.
“We will do the best thing for his future. It looks like there could be a very nice race ahead.”
Hart is a shareholder in Trade Fair and he bred the stallion’s highly-promising three-year-old Proceedwithcaution. Other recent Belmont winners by Trade Fair include Korenica and Synoptic and he also sired Belmont barrier trial winners Fairway To Venus and Vessel Of Wrath last Monday.
