Rebel breakthrough for Alfred Nobel

Lynward Park shuttler Alfred Nobel continues to achieve outstanding success with his first northern hemisphere two year-olds.

Vegas Rebel (2c Alfred Nobel – Van De Cappelle by Pivotal) overcame problems in running to win the Blackjack Maiden Stakes (1400m) by three lengths at Brighton on Tuesday.  He started a 5/4 favourite and was overdue for success having been runner-up in prior outings at Salisbury, Nottingham, Newmarket and Redcar.

Alfred Nobel has sired 6 winners and 7 placegetters from 19 runners so far this year.

Vegas Rebel (Ire) is prepared by Peter Chapple-Hyam and cost 20,000 pounds (AUD 34,635) at the 2013 Doncaster Bloodstock yearling sale.  He hails from the family of Lord Weinstock’s G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Hellenic (Darshaan) who foaled Group 1 winners Islington, Greek Dance and Mountain High.

Alfred Nobel (Danehill Dancer) won the G1 Phoenix Stakes and G2 Railway Stakes in Ireland and is from one of Europe’s most successful maternal lines.  There are 47 foals in his initial crop of new-season two year-olds in Western Australia.
