Italian winner by Alfred Nobel

Sunspeed shuttler Alfred Nobel sired his latest European winner on Tuesday when San Marcos was successful in Rome.

San Marcos (2c Alfred Nobel – Maclura by Observatory) broke through at the fifth time of asking with a half-length victory in the Premio Potassio (1600m).  He cost 10,000 euros (AUD 14,265) at the 2013 SGA yearling sale in Milan.

The Dalila Dolfi bred colt is from 7 time winner Maclura and among their extended family is Moonee Valley Group 2 winner Avienus.

Alfred Nobel (Ire) has sired 8 individual European winners from his first-crop out of Coolmore Stud.  He is due back at Lynward Park in 2015 after a sabbatical from shuttle duties this year.
