Consistent mare Fuchsia Bandana claimed her second Group 3 victory against the odds in the Hyperion Stakes (1600m) at Belmont on Saturday.
Despite being inconvenienced when the saddle slipped, jockey Jarrad Noske produced a perfect front-running ride to score by three-quarters of a length from Respondent (Blackfriars).
Noske had partnered Fuchsia Bandana throughout the Ascot summer campaign winning the G3 Northerly Stakes (1400m) and just being run down by Magnifisio in the G2 Lee-Steere Stakes.
“Jarrad knows her so well and she knows him,” managing owner Kevin Berry said. “It gives us a lot more options in the 1600m to 2000m range going into the carnivals later this year.”
Fuchsia Bandana (4m Trade Fair – Fuchsia Lady by Jeune) has won 8 of her 19 starts and earned over $527,600 in prizemoney. Bred by Kingston Thoroughbreds, she is one of 8 stakes winners for Alwyn Park sire Trade Fair (Zafonic).
Next stop for the mare is the G3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on June 27. Her dam Fuchsia Lady wasn’t bred back after foaling a Trade Fair colt last October.
