Pak Lok Angel showed an impressive turn of foot to win his first black-type event in Macau on Sunday.
The Lucky Unicorn gelding increased his earnings to M$1.80 million (AUD 288,405) in the G2 Sand Specialist Stakes (1600m). He raced three-deep for most of the trip before making up five lengths in the straight to run down the favourite Gold Alloy
Pak Lok Angel (4g Lucky Unicorn – Fool’s Gold by Royal Academy) is owned by Lee Annie Angel and is out of a half-sister to G3 Doomben Roses winner Natural Woman (Generous). He cost NZ$18,000 at the 2012 Karaka Select yearling sale and was initially trained by Gary Moore before transferring to Victor Chan.
There have been 4 wins on turf among his 7 career victories and he has been a constant threat in feature races this year including a fourth-place finish in the G1 Macau Derby in April.
Lucky Unicorn (Redoute’s Choice) covers his third Sunspeed book at Westbury Park in Pinjarra this year. He stands for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.
