Man Booker has made an impressive start to his racing career for a ladies syndicate at Belmont.
The son of deceased sire Discorsi started favourite first-up in Wednesday’s Westspeed Hcp (1000m) and cruised home to the cheers of his owners. “The girls are in for an exciting ride,” trainer Dan Morton said. “He’s shown ability from the start and got off to a flyer today.”
Man Booker (2g Discorsi – Morine by Danetime) was bred and sold by Korilya Stud’s Ellie Giles for $25,000 at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions. Second dam Femme (Surtee) and her sister Refemme both won 6 races for trainer George Daly and they were also Group 2 placed in Karrakatta Plates.
He has two younger half-brothers by Yarradale Stud stallions Scandal Keeper and Gingerbread Man. Their dam Morine was bred back to Dick Turpin last year.
Discorsi (Galileo) succumbed to colic at Yarradale Stud in February. He’s a Top 20 stallion on the Australian second-season premiership with 16 wins and $510,025 in prizemoney this season.
Yarradale Stud has catalogued 9 weanlings by Discorsi at the Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale. They are among a draft of 29 foals by Frost Giant, Hard Spun, Heritage, Musket, Patronize and Gingerbread Man being sold on Sunday, June 28.
