Tradesman’s rise through his debut campaign has reached new heights with a brilliant finish to the Dayana Plate (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday.

Jockey Troy Turner positioned the Trade Fair gelding in a one-out-one-back position from a very difficult draw.  He held off the lightning finish of Dark Musket to score by nose with the favourite North Ridge a half-length away third.

The winner is prepared by Robert & Todd Harvey at Ascot and he was coming off a Listed victory in the Belmont Guineas.  A $57,500 buy out of the Toreby Park draft at the 2013 Perth Magic Millions, he has won 4 times in 6 starts for earnings of $196,950 including $70,000 in Westspeed bonuses.

Tradesman (3c Trade Fair – Virelay by Laranto) hails from a Korilya Stud family going back to Star Lyric (Beau Sovereign) and her stakes winning daughter Roadsong (Haulpak) who foaled Road To Success (G1 Blue Diamond) & Condotti (G3 Concorde Stakes).

Trade Fair also sired Fuchsia Bandana to a Group 3 victory in the Hyperion Stakes (1600m) at Belmont last month.  He stands at Alwyn Park in Serpentine for $6,000 (plus gst).
