Feelin Dicky is the latest first-crop winner by Dick Turpin in England.

The James Given trained colt won on debut in the Unibet EBF Maiden Stakes (1000m) at Southwell.  He tracked the pace and was then ridden to the lead by Tom Eaves for a one-length victory on Tuesday afternoon.

On the same day in 2003, Given was in Australia with Hugs Dancer for the Melbourne Cup.

Feelin Dicky is a homebred for owner Peter Swann who has numerous horses with Given under the Cool Silk Partnership.  He also raced the colt’s dam Feelin Foxy (Foxhound) to 9 wins and a stakes placing at Goodwood.

Dick Turpin is currently covering his fourth southern book at Mungrup Stud at an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.

Hoofnote: Receding Waves has been sold to do his future racing in Qatar.  The Dick Turpin colt topped Day 1 of the Doncaster Bloodstock Autumn Sale when making 80,000 pounds (AUD 171,760) on Wednesday.
