Mystic Maid is one of Perth’s best three year-old sprinters and she can confirm that rating in the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) on November 21.
Trainer David Harrison will aim for black-type after watching his Patronize filly win the Mt Hallowell Stud Plate (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday. “She’s very consistent and we dropped her back in grade after the Belgravia Stakes,” he said. “Shaun (O’Donnell) rode her perfectly and she’s right back to the form that saw her run so well in the Karrakatta.”
Mystic Maid had won a Bunbury maiden in February before seconds to Chantski in the G3 Gimcrack and Lucky Street in the G2 Karrakatta. She returned a winner with a brilliant turn of foot to defeat stablemate Delicate Miss (My Atacanta) by three-quarters of a length.
Darling View Thoroughbreds owners Clive and Brent Atwell race the homebred filly in partnership with Harrison and his wife Jennie. She is the second winner from two to race for Magical Belle.
The Blackfriars mare foaled Ascot winner Bells Tower (Statue Of Liberty) first-up and she has a 2yo filly by Patronize and delivered a colt by Lope De Vega in August.
The Atwells stand Patronize for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee at Darling View in Mundijong. He’s a Redoute’s Choice three-quarter brother to Exceed And Excel and has averaged 60 mares in his last two books.
