Progressive Oratorio filly Indigo Ora has improved out of sight since winning her maiden over 2000m at Bunbury last month.
Unlike the vast majority by Oratorio, she wasn’t a factor in sprint trips earlier this season. “She didn’t have a lot go her way and was due for a change of luck,” trainer Dan Morton explained. “But I liked the way she was hitting the line.”
Indigo Ora (3f Oratorio – True Dane by Danetime) followed up the Bunbury breakthrough with a placing to Who Dat Singa at Ascot (1850m) on Xmas Eve and another win at Pinjarra (2000m) on January 10.
The emerging stayer has also helped Mungrup Stud’s pre-sale promotion of her yearling brother who has been entered as Lot 184 for the Perth Magic Millions. Their dam True Dane is a sister to G2 Karrakatta Plate winner True Roman.
Oratorio was the leading local sire at the 2015 Perth Magic Millions with a Book 1 average of $53,500. He has 15 lots catalogued for next month’s Magic Millions after the withdrawal of the colt from Recoverable (Lot 109).
The Mungrup Stud champion has captured 5 of the last 6 Western Australian 2YO titles and he leads the current ladder with earnings of $159,525. His first starter Diamond Princess – another Oratorio from a Danetime mare – boosted the bank balance with a handy win at Bunbury on New Year’s Day.
