Scenic Lodge stallion Universal Ruler and trainer Simon Miller came up a half-length short with Lady Cosmology in the 2018 Karrakatta Plate but they can redress that result with Wiley Girl in Perth’s premier juvenile event on April 15.

Wiley Girl (Photo / Western Racepix)  looked an outstanding prospect winning the Magic Millions Racing Women Plate (1200m) by more than two lengths at Ascot on Saturday.  Having settled perfectly behind the leader Stolen Valour, she shouldered the favourite Never The Twain on the home turn and then cruised clear under Pat Carberry.

“She ran through the line on debut here a fortnight ago and appreciated the extra furlong second-up,” Miller said.

“She was still immature during her first prep earlier this season but she’s pumped up bigger and stronger now.

“She’s been faultless and chilled out while parading today.”

Wiley Girl (2f Universal Ruler – Marcee A Lady by Safeguard) is a three-quarter sister to Lady Cosmology and shares many of the same owners including her breeders Peter Walsh and former West Coast Eagles footballers Michael Brennan and Rob Wiley.

She also sports the same Amelia Park colours as Walsh’s 2022 Karrakatta Plate winner Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni).  Bookmakers have firmed her to the third line of this year’s Group 2 Karrakatta markets at $9 behind stablemate Live To Tell ($1.90) and Super Smink ($6).

“I’m not sure whether we go straight to the Karrakatta in three weeks without another run,” Miller added after she banked $84,500 in prizemoney and Westspeed Platinum Bonuses. “I wanted to get this race out of the way first and we’re playing with house money now.

“Walshie also said why not deviate from the big guns and get her over 1400m in the WA Sires’ Produce Stakes.”

Either way, Amelia Park is well-placed with Wiley Girl’s yearling half-sister by Shooting To Win and her weanling half-sister by Awesome Rock on the ground at Vasse.

Universal Ruler (Scenic) sits in the Top 6 on the WA Sires’ premiership and Wiley Girl was his 8th individual winner in March after a Pinjarra double with 3yo fillies Yonga Lass and Rusty Dreams last Thursday.  He can make double figures this month with Ruler Rocket (R1) and Estimator (R4) at Belmont on Wednesday.
