Thoroughbred Breeders WA Annual Award Conditions
LEADING WA SIRE
- The sire must have Western Australian bred stock of racing age.
- The sire must have stood at stud in Western Australia during the season under review, with the only exception being in the instance where the stallion is deceased at the time of winning the award.
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prize money won by the sire’s progeny during the season under review.
- The award will be accepted on behalf of the sire by the person(s) / stud who stood the sire during the season under review and who returned that sire to the Australian Stud Book in the season under review. The only exception is where that said sire is now deceased and the award will be accepted on his behalf by the person(s) / stud that stood him in his final season at stud or who returned that sire to the Australian Stud Book in his final year.
LEADING WA 2 YEAR OLD SIRE
- The sire must have Western Australian conceived stock of racing age.
- The sire must have stood at stud in Western Australia during the season under review.
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prize money, including bonuses, won by the sire’s 2 year old progeny during the season under review.
- The award will be accepted on behalf of the sire by the person(s) / stud who stood the sire during the season under review and who returned that sire to the Australian Stud Book in the season under review.
LEADING WA 1st SEASON SIRE
- The sire must have Western Australian conceived stock of racing age.
- The sire must have stood at stud in Western Australia during the season under review.
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prize money, including bonuses, won by the sire’s first crop to race during the season under review.
- The award will be accepted on behalf of the sire by the person(s) / stud who stood the sire during the season under review and who returned that sire to the Australian Stud Book in the season under review.
WA BREEDER OF THE YEAR
- The recipient (Breeder) of this award must be a paid up financial member of TBWA for the season under review.
- The recipient must reside in Western Australia.
- Points are allocated as such to the Breeder for wins in black type races as follows:
8 points for every Group 1 win
4 points for every Group 2 win
2 points for every Group 3 win
1 point for every Listed win. - The breeder with the highest tally of points at the end of the season under review will be named the winner.
- In the event two breeders end the season on equal points, multiple awards will be presented.
BREEDER OF THE WA 2 YEAR OLD OF THE YEAR
Eligible 2 year old racehorses must be:
- At least 50% bred by a Western Australian registered breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book;
AND
- The product of a sire standing in Western Australia at the time the dam is served (WA sired).
OR
- The product of a mare which was served by a WA based sire in the season following that in which the yearling in question was conceived (breed back).
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prize money including bonuses, won by the 2 year old in the season under review.
- The award will be accepted by the breeder/ breeders or stud who bred the 2 year old racehorse and are listed as the breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book.
BREEDER OF THE WA 3 YEAR OLD OF THE YEAR
Eligible 3 year old racehorses must be:
- At least 50% bred by a Western Australian registered breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book;
AND
- The product of a sire standing in Western Australia at the time the dam is served (WA sired).
OR
- The product of a mare which was served by a WA based sire in the season following that in which the yearling in question was conceived (breed back).
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prize money including bonuses, won by the 3 year old in the season under review.
- The award will be accepted by the breeder/ breeders or stud who bred the 3 year old racehorse and are listed as the breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book.
PLATINUM RACEHORSE OF THE YEAR
- The winner of this award is determined by the amount of prizemoney, including bonuses, won by the Platinum racehorse in the season under review.
- The award will be accepted by the breeder/ breeders or stud who bred the Platinum racehorse and are listed as the breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book.
PLATINUM BREEDER OF THE YEAR
- The recipient (Breeder) of this award must be a paid up financial member of TBWA for the season under review.
- Any horses nominated for the Westspeed Platinum scheme and bred by this breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book winning in the year under review will be taken into account.
- Points are allocated as such to the Breeder for wins in black type races as follows:
8 points for every Group 1 win
4 points for every Group 2 win
2 points for every Group 3 win
1 point for every Listed win. - The breeder with the highest tally of points at the end of the season under review will be named the winner.
- In the event two breeders end the season on equal points, multiple awards will be presented.
WA BROODMARE OF THE YEAR
- Eligible broodmares must be at least 50% owned by a Western Australian registered breeder in accordance with the Australian Stud Book.
- Points are allocated to a Broodmare for each of her progeny (as supplied by Thoroughbred Breeders Australia in conjunction with the Australian Stud Book as to the breeding of each individual black type winner for the season under review) which wins a black type race. Points are allocated as follows:
6 points for every Group 1 win
4 points for every Group 2 win
2 points for every Group 3 win
1 point for every Listed win. - The broodmare with the highest tally of points at the end of the season under review will be named the winner.
- The award will be accepted on behalf of the broodmare by the person(s) / stud who returned that broodmare to the Australian Stud Book during the season under review. The only exception is where that said broodmare is now deceased and the award will be accepted on her behalf by the person(s) / stud who returned that broodmare to the Australian Stud Book in her final year at stud.
- In the event two broodmares end the season on equal points, multiple awards will be presented.
