Gold Front Thoroughbreds has announced its highly-credentialled sire Awesome Rock will be standing for a fee of $9,900 (inc GST) in the upcoming breeding season.
Awesome Rock’s oldest progeny are four year-olds and they’ve already made a huge impact with a 14% Stakes-winners to individual-winners strike-rate.
Awesome John (G2 WATC Derby) and Red Sun Sensation (G3 SAJC Chairman’s Stakes) have led the way this season following Searchin’ Roc’s who blazed a trail last season winning the G3 WATC Champion Fillies, G3 R J Peters Stakes, LR Belmont Oaks and LR Belgravia Stakes.
Awesome Rock (Photo / Western Racepix) is a son of Champion Australian stallion Fastnet Rock (Danehill) and was a leading Melbourne 2yo winning a Sandown Lakeside nursery second time out prior to a fast-finishing second in the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington.
He kept progressing for trainers Leon and Troy Corstens and sealed a stud career with a Group 1 victory in the VRC Emirates Stakes (2000m) at Flemington during the 2016 Melbourne Cup carnival.
Since retiring to Gold Front Thoroughbreds, Awesome Rock has made significant strides off moderate-sized books in his first three seasons at stud. But his exceptional record has since garnered an impressive following with 107 mares covered last season at a fee of $7,700.
