Namerik Thoroughbreds-bred mare Kiralui (Safeguard) was in the mix to be named last week’s Winner Of The Week but missed out to Run Pattie Run (Gingerbread Man). This time around it was Namerik’s turn after Mirrorschino scored an all-the-way victory in the Toasting Past And Present Committee Maiden (1600m) at Northam on Thursday.
Mirrorschino was getting out to a mile for the first time at his third start for trainer Trevor Andrews. He was bred and sold by Namerik owner Alan Bansemer to a Belhus Racing Syndicate managed by Peter Morley at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.
The family goes back three generations at the Serpentine farm. He’s a half-brother to the winners Babble (Blackfriars), Little Billie Rose (Flying Pegasus) and Palaver (Universal Ruler). Second-dam Aphasia (Orojoya) won a LR Wyong Cup and was placed in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) of 1996 won by Arctic Scent.
Third-dam Bavarde Royale (Sovereign Slipper) delivered 7 winners from as many to race and, apart from Aphasia, foaled Ascot winner Poziere (Statoblest). The best of her winners was Mouquet (Viscount) who also won at Ascot and was Group 3 placed in the 2019 La Trice Classic (1800m) won by Celebrity Dream (NZ).
Mirrorschino is a 3yo son of Alwyn Park sire Maschino and his current 2yo crop averaged $99,000 as yearlings at the Perth Magic Millions in February. Lot 74 was top-priced at $235,000 when purchased by Neville Parnham and Ridgeport Holdings for the Mungrup-bred half-sister to Bustler (Playing God) and A Lot of Good Men (A Lot).
