Gold Front Thoroughbreds stallion Awesome Rock reached the winners of 100 races when his 3yo filly Bonny Rock was judged TBWA Winner of the Week on December 5 and there’s been more since that milestone with Ascot winners like Rocking The Casbah and Cold Shizzle.

Cold Shizzle sprouted wings from last on the corner to nail Metallon (Oratorio) by a nose in the Westspeed Platinum Sprint (1400m) on Saturday.  He was on a seven-day turnaround at Ascot following a close second to Magnificent Andy and Damien Oliver last weekend.

“He’s done remarkably well at home this week and came here bouncing out of his skin,” trainer Darren McAuliffe said.  ““He has a devastating turn of foot but was up in the weights and has been in work a while so I wasn’t over-confident.”

Cold Shizzle (Photo / Western Racepix) has also had feet problems and prefers softer ground winning five races at Belmont and two at Ascot.  He’s a homebred for McAuliffe and his Impressive Racing partner Kevin Berry from Fo’ Shizzle (Universal Ruler) who was runner-up in the LR Belmont Oaks (2000m) in 2015 won by Peters Investment filly Cosmic Storm (Street Sense).

Fo’ Shizzle has a yearling colt by Playing God and a filly foal by Manhattan Rain.

Cold Shizzle has earned $427,200 with Westspeed Bonuses tipping in $104,500.  Classic winners Awesome John and Searchin’ Roc’s are the only Awesome Rocks to accrue more prizemoney.

Gold Front was also in the frame with its graduates More Than Enuff at Bunbury on Thursday and Allaboutthecraic at Belmont on Sunday.

More Than Enuff (3g Rich Enuff – Prete A Partir by Choisir) won the Nixon Electrical Maiden (1414m) for trainer Stephen Miller who bought him for $65,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.  He’s a half-brother to Hong Kong winner Eason (Written Tycoon)

Second-dam Sigaro (Lujain) was one of the mares acquired by Alan and Sue Olive from Tamworth-based Yashraj Breeding and Racing when they launched Gold Front in 2011.

Allaboutthecraic (5m Gingerbread Man – Ms Chief Bound by Commands) won the Own The Dream Hcp (1600m) and she is proving quite a bargain for trainer Ash Maley after making just $10,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions.

There’s juvenile black-type down the page through Unison (LR Widden Stakes) and Zedagal (G3 Blue Diamond Prelude).

Gold Front has entered 17 yearlings for the 2024 Perth Magic Millions and first to parade is Lot 20; the Awesome Rock full-sister to recent TBWA Winner of the Week Bonny Rock.
