Champion sire Playing God has 43 yearlings entered for arguably the classiest catalogue ever assembled in WA ahead of the 2024 Perth Magic Millions Sale.
The online catalogue was released on Tuesday with an overall line-up of 352 lots to be offered across two sessions on Thursday & Friday, February 22 & 23 in the Swan Valley. The online catalogue can be viewed here
Playing God’s full-brother to G2 WA Guineas winner Zipaway (Lot 24) and a full sister to G1 Railway Stakes winner Bustler (Lot 41) will be the catalyst for some spirited competition early on Day 1. They have been catalogued by Western Breeders Alliance and Mungrup Pty Ltd respectively.
Playing God heads a list of 90 individual sires represented in the catalogue including yearlings by 14 first-season sires. There’s also 24 lots from the sixth and final crop of I’m All The Talk.
“We are proud of the catalogue. It’s the cream of the Western Australian yearling crop – not only those sired by local stars but also a fine selection of WA-owned stock by interstate stallions,” Magic Millions WA Manager David Houston reported.
Among the East Coast sires represented are Better Than Ready (More Than Ready), Bivouac (Exceed And Excel), Blue Point (Shamardal), Capitalist (Written Tycoon), Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible), Deep Field (Northern Meteor) and Cosmic Force (Deep Field).
“Graduates of this sale have done it all. From Australian Horses of the Year to Asian champions, Royal Ascot stars to Autumn and Spring Carnival Group 1 winners!”
“We have a huge number of yearlings either Westspeed or Westspeed Platinum and other State-based schemes are represented. And of course all lots are eligible to be nominated to the $20.7 million Magic Millions Race Series.
“Our racing over here is fantastic and it’s inspired a lot of people to be involved in the breeding game. This year, we were the only sale in Australasia that had increases on 2022,” Houston added in an interview with ANZ Bloodstock News.
“We don’t have many syndicators here, so to speak, but the trainers have got fantastic support bases that they’ve had for years and years. I think it’s positive, very positive.”
