Zing to Win is growing accustomed to the Goldfields since joining Peter Fernie’s Cambana Lodge stables in Buller Street.
Initially with Pearce Racing, he won a Bunbury maiden last November (Photo / Western Racepix) before transferring to Kalgoorlie where he’s unbeaten in two outings as a 3yo and 4yo!
Zing to Win came from midfield to claim the Hydramech Hcp (1100m) on July 28 and then improved out of sight to bolt in by six lengths in the Vale Brian Osmetti Hcp (1200m) on Sunday.
He was purchased by Lightning Bloodstock for $47,500 from Western Breeders Alliance (as agent) at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions and syndicate manager Chris Rosier indicated he will be set for a hat-trick in a fortnight. “Zing to Win has made excellent progress since arriving in the Goldfields six weeks ago,” Rosier said. “He’s known as ‘Burgers’ at Peter’s stables for his rather large eating habits and laid-back nature.
“Peter and assistant trainer Charlotte Skerritt have the big lad in a wonderful head space at the moment. The relaxed atmosphere around the local racing facilities and more therapeutic training methods like swimming instead of trackwork keep him on top of his game mentally and physically.
“He can be very quirky and has had his ‘moments’ which have brought him undone and cost him winning one or two more races. But Peter and his team are slowly but surely turning the tide on his racing manners.”
Zing to Win is a son of Oakland Park stallion Shooting To Win and his dam Cold Fact (Not A Single Doubt) is from a half-sister to Love Comes To Town (Exit Five B) who was a Group 2 winner of the TBV Bloodhorse Breeders’ Plate (1400m) and Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington in 2008.
Cold Fact has an unraced 3yo filly by Shooting To Win named Indeedido with trainer Jason Miller and her most recent foal is a yearling filly by Widden Stud stallion Zousain.
Oakland Park stands Shooting To Win for a $9,900 fee alongside newcomer Ingratiating ($9,000) and Sessions ($8,800). Fees (inc GST). For bookings or further information, call Neville Duncan (0417 200 097) or Farm Manager Adrian Brown (0438 944 299).
