Amelia Park started September with Winner Of The Week Royal Toronado and returned for a second strike this month with In Good Order at Belmont on Saturday.
In Good Order was ridden a treat by in-form hoop Chris Parnham for in-form trainer Dan Morton in the Morley Growers Market Hcp (1600m). He settled one-out and one-back behind front-running stablemate Mountain Ash (Safeguard) before letting down like a feature race winner of the future.
“He was knocking on the door for a black-type win during the autumn and now that he’s matured we will be looking towards the summer carnival,” Morton said. “We planned to make this a short prep and he will go out for a couple a weeks and see where he takes us from there.
“We love him and have expectations of raising the bar. He will be facing much better company but it won’t surprise us when he takes the next step. He’s developing into really nice stayer and will stretch out to 2000m and further.”
In Good Order was bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds owner John Camilleri and initially changed hands when catalogued by Segenhoe Stud (as agent) for the 2021 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
Amelia Park pinhooked him for $105,000 from Camilleri who has gone down in bloodstock folklore as the breeder of Winx (Street Cry). Transferred west, In Good Order developed from an October foal into $140,000 yearling at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.
He’s from the same third southern crop of American Pharoah (USA) that generated ill-fated G1 VRC Victoria Derby (2500m) winner Riff Rocket and Cambridge Stud’s G2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes (2050m) winning mare About Time.
Parnham believes In Good Order will keep kicking goals next time in. “He’s won twice at a mile this prep and he was relaxed and travelling comfortably before letting down that devasting turn of foot. He was fourth in the 2400m WA Derby in the autumn and hopefully he can make the grade for a race like the Perth Cup.”
Amelia Park owner-breeder Peter Walsh also manages a syndicate that has Perth Cup aspirations for last-start Belmont winner Buckets Ridge (Pride Of Dubai).
In Sydney, Amelia Park’s Group 1 mare Amelia’s Jewel can return to her winning ways in the G2 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday. She resumed with an encouraging second in the G2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick earlier this month and will be favoured to end a losing run going back 12 months to the MRVC Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m).
“I thought it was a pretty good run in the Tramway,” co-trainer Annabel Neasham said. “They went a strong tempo and she closed off well. We’re still learning about her and I don’t think she could’ve done much more. She should run well.”
Neasham has the G3 King Charles III Stakes (1600m) as the next target for the 5yo daughter of Siyouni (Fr) on October 19 where she would likely face top mares Pride Of Jenni (Pride Of Dubai) and Fangirl (Sebring).
