Rommel’s Goddess has taken a shine to the Avon Valley for a Neville Parnham partnership since resuming after nine months on the sidelines.
The Ridgeport mare was placed at York first-up behind Mai Aloha (Long Leaf) and looked right at home winning the Boulevard Jewellery Maiden (1000m) at Northam on Thursday. Brad Parnham settled in the sweet spot behind Snippagent (Snippetson) and Bubbles In Rio (I’m All The Talk) before letting her down for a convincing two-length victory.
Rommel’s Goddess (Photo / Western Racepix) had weighed in at all four summer starts last season in the city and south-west and was last seen working home in a Bunbury maiden on Australia Day.
Bred and sold by Mogumber Park at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions, she’s the first foal of Cashere Miss (Dash For Cash) who is a half-sister to LR Redelva Stakes (1050m) winner Desert Lashes (Reward For Effort).
She is by Ridgeport sire Rommel and was purchased for $55,000 by Ridgeport owner Santo Guagliardo in a partnership managed by Neville and Carol Parnham.
Rommel’s Goddess is one of three foals for Cashere Miss who was pensioned last week. Her 2yo Rommel colt was purchased by Polaris Bloodstock for $16,000 at the Inglis 2024 May (Early) Online Sale.
The Inglis sales pitch noted the colt oozes quality and is a lovely athletic mover with correct conformation. He presents with a typical Rommel style about him and looks an early runner. The final foal from Cashere Miss is a yearling filly by Safeguard with Lani Moore.
Rommel (Commands) won the WA 2YO & Freshman sire titles in 2020-21 and his progeny improve with age and distance, having winners from 1000m to 2000m and beyond. They have built a 64% strike-rate led by Group 3 winner Snowdome (WA Sires’ Produce Stakes & Prince of Wales Stakes) and Pixie Chix (RL Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy).
His 2022 G2 WA Derby (2400m) runner-up Pale Rider was sold off-shore and is due to start first-up for trainer Benno Yung this month. Now known as Tourbillon Prince, he won at Sha Tin and Happy Valley last season.
Rommel (Commands) stands at Ridgeport Farm for $6,600 alongside Ducimus (Snitzel) at $5,500. Both fees (inc GST). For bookings or more information, contact Marge Ojapold (0497 478 231), Grant Burns (0410 683 470), Steve Hoare (0409 987 970).
