A dream week for Amelia Park continued when Bosustow added the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) to his improving record on Saturday.
Bosustow (3c Blue Point – Bumbasina by Canford Cliffs) had won the RL Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on the glitter strip in January and returned to trounce the Gold Coast Guineas field by six lengths.
He’s a younger half-brother to Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni) who lit up the Inglis sales arena on Thursday evening while selling for $3.8 million to Coolmore Stud at the Chairman’s Sale.
Amelia Park owner Peter Walsh sold Bosustow to the Rosemont Stud Alliance for $900,000 at 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and kept a share in the colt who lifted his earnings to $2.15 million on Saturday.
It was an emotional result for the ownership group. He’s named after champion footballer Peter Bosustow who was taken all to early aged 67 last month. ‘The Buzz’ played 141 games for Perth Demons and represented WA in 8 State games before transferring to Carlton where he was a key member of their 1981 and 1982 premiership teams in the VFL.
“I wasn’t sure about a Heavy 8 track but it was an amazing win,” co-trainer Anabel Neasham said. “And I’m sure Peter Bosustow was carrying him the whole way there because he was so dominant.”
Bosustow will now head to the G3 Fred Best Classic (1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 31 before attempting to emulate his older half-sister at Group 1 level in the $3 million Stradbroke Hcp (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 14. He also sports Amelia Park’s AP8 brand.
Their dam Bumbasina has a yearling colt by Siyouni that was purchased by Ascot trainer Luke Fernie for $625,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January. She also has a Siyouni filly foaled last September and is currently carrying a PPT to Zoustar.
Bosustow is the best performed southern-hemisphere runner by Darley sire Blue Point. The Irish-bred son of Shamardal did not shuttle to Australia this year.
