Peters Investments have bred numerous black-type winners from the ‘Arcadia’ family and they doubled up with Arcadia Park in the LR Aquanita Stakes (2019m) at Bunbury on Saturday.

Arcadia Park (Ocean Park) is a son of Arcadia Dream (Domesday) who carried the successful cerise and white silks to victory in the 2016 Aquanita Stakes when it was run over 1800m during the summer carnival at Ascot.

Trainer Grant Williams brought Arcadia Dream back for an autumn campaign to win the LR Natasha Stakes (2200m) and G2 WATC Derby (2400m) before Peters Investments eventually retired her to stud in New Zealand.

She is a half-sister to Champion Australian Female Sprinter Arcadia Queen (Pierro) and foaled Arcadia Grace (Hinchinbrook) first-up across the Tasman to win at Ascot and Belmont for trainer Michael Grantham.

In the six seasons since then, Arcadia Dream has foaled three colts and two fillies by Champion Waikato Stud sire Ocean Park (Thorn Park).

Unraced at two, Arcadia Park (Photo / Western Racepix) won a Belmont 3YO Plate (1400m) last September and was coming off a Pinjarra win for his first assignment at Stakes level on Saturday.  He settled behind front-runner Redback Flyer (Playing God) on a heavy surface and was too strong in the straight to defeat Our Paladin Al (A Lot) by a neck.

“He was left by himself in the straight and kept looking around,” winning jockey Clint Johnson-Porter said.  “He shied at the barriers and then ducked in passing the mounting yard.  He’s still new and that was an impressive win.”

Besides Arcadia Park and Arcadia Dream, Bob Peters also bred True Attraction (More Than Ready) to win the 2019 Aquanita Stakes and the latest renewal was his 11th black-type win this season.  He can make it an even dozen if Arcadia Park accepts for the LR Belmont Classic (2200m) in a fortnight.

“He seemed to be all over the place but won it very well,” Peters said at Bunbury.  “I was quietly confident coming into the race.   The Domesdays and the Ocean Parks handle wet tracks so I thought he might be able to run a good race.  He’s still got to learn how to go straight but it was nice to see him get up.”

Peters Investments has an affinity with Thorn Park besides the Ocean Park connection and that was evident when stablemates Enchanted Star and Just Famous scored a day-by-day double last week.  They are the first two foals from Celebrity Dream (Thorn Park) who won a half-dozen black-type events to Group 3 level in the 2019 La Trice Classic (1800m) at Ascot.

Her 3yo filly Enchanted Star (I Am Invincible) won the TABtouch Past The Post Payouts Maiden (1200m) at Pinjarra on Wednesday and older half-brother Just Famous (Justify) landed the Grafton Electrics Hcp (1400m) at Northam on Thursday.

Celebrity Dream has a yearling filly by Toronado (Ire) named Famed Girl and her foal is another filly by the Swettenham Stud resident.  Peters Investments bred and raced Toronado mare Treasured Star to victories in the G2 WA Guineas (1600m) and G3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m).
