Exciting 3yo Repossession completed a double for Oakland Park sire Sessions at Pinjarra on Saturday with his first black-type victory in the LR Beaufine Stakes (1000m).
It also brought up a hat-trick for the Gangemi Thoroughbreds galloper this prep following wins at Belmont and Pinjarra in May – June. What’s more, he had been hampered by a hoof abscess and missed some work leading into the Beaufine.
“Brad (Parnham) worked him this week and said he had recovered and was ready even though it had been a month between starts,” co-trainer Chris Gangemi revealed following the three-quarter length victory over Toropa (Toronado) and Sinful Living (Safeguard).

“Brad was positive early and kept him out of trouble. He’s off to the paddock now and that will get his rating up nicely for the better races next season.”
The Gangemi family had won the 2015 Beaufine with Rock Magic (Redoute’s Choice) but Chris wouldn’t be drawn into comparisons with their all-time stable favourite who retired with 9 black-type wins to his credit for earnings over $1.72 million.
Repossession was a front-running winner of the Placid Ark Prelude (1000m) at Ascot last November and Saturday’s result improved his strike-rate to 5 wins in 7 starts for earnings of $435,000 including Westspeed Bonuses of $182,000.
“I got down to 54kg today and haven’t ridden that low for a few months,” Parnham explained. “I was confident Repossession could handle the step up in grade against older horses. I tracked up behind Toropa and came down the centre of the course for a very good win.”
Gangemi Thoroughbreds purchased Repossession for $62,500 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions. Bred and sold by Bellbridge Park’s Siobhan Campbell, he’s the penultimate foal from Can Time (Danetime) who has been represented by five winners including Ohbeeh, a five-time Belmont winner by Sessions.
It’s the family of 1997 Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Willoughby (Fimiston) and her final foal is a rising 2yo filly by Geisel Park sire Manhattan Rain. She’s a stablemate of Repossession after Gangemi Thoroughbreds bought her for $50,000 at this year Perth Magic Millions.
Repossession is the 6th individual Stakes winner by Sessions and the second among his current 3yo division following Sail Session (LR John Roberts Stakes & LR Melvista Stakes).
Currently closing off his most successful season at Oakland Park, Sessions sired the first-leg of his Pinjarra double with Fancy Red in the Stable Affairs Hcp (1412m). The homebred 3yo filly was a TBWA Winner of the Week in May and she is also building a successful strike-rate with 4 wins in 8 starts for trainer Adam Durrant.
Sessions (Lonhro) stands for $9,900 at Oakland Park alongside Ingratiating ($9,900) and Shooting To Win ($6,600). Service fees (inc GST). For bookings or further information contact Neville Duncan (0417 200 097) or Adrian Brown (0438 944 299).
