Greenfields Lodge owner Tony Patrizi bridged the old and new seasons with a winning double via Diamond Dancer (Long Leaf) at Belmont on Wednesday and Sensessional (Sessions) at Pinjarra on Saturday.

Diamond Dancer’s victory in the Reliable Asset Maintenance Hcp (1200m) was mentioned here and Sensessional was just as impressive winning the Jockey Celebration Day Hcp (1400m) for 2024-25 WA premiership winners Williams Racing and Willie Pike.

Sensessional (5g Sessions – Super Special by Casino Prince) settled midfield on the rails before splitting Investment Strategy (Playing God) and Multinational (Zoustar) in the straight to score by over a length first-up since a midfield finish in the LR Pinjarra Cup (2300m) in March.

“I was a bit worried coming into the race off one trial on a soft track from the inside gate,” co-trainer Grant Williams revealed.  “But Willie did say the inside was alright and it’s great to start the season with a winner for such a good bunch of owners.  We will keep him in these sort of races and maybe think about targeting something later this year.”

Sensessional is every inch the professional and Pike has been aboard in five of his eight wins.  Saturday’s purse sent his earnings through $500,000 including Westspeed Platinum Bonuses of $178,000.  “He doesn’t win by big margins but enjoys racing,” Pike said.  “And he’s always there when I need him.”

Patrizi bred and sold Sensessional for $50,000 through the Misty Valley Thoroughbreds @ Greenfields Lodge consignment to the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.  The 5yo son of Sessions hails from a black-type family going back to 1992 LR Supremacy Stakes (1000m) winner Snippets Show (Snippets).

Sessions (Lonhro) finished a career-best fourth on the 2024-25 WA Sires’ table and he’s based at Oakland Park Stud alongside Ingratiating (Frosted).  They both stand for $9,900 (inc GST).  For bookings or further details contact Neville Duncan (0417 200 097) or Adrian Brown (0438 944 299).
