Oakland Park-bred graduate Keep Your Cool returned to form with a last-stride victory at Caulfield on Saturday and trainer Ciaron Maher was quick to credit Logan Bates for a perfect ride in the Schweppes Hcp (1400m)

Keep Your Cool (5m Deep Field – Cool Trade by Trade Fair) sat one-out and one-back in traffic before reeling in long-time leader Sassy Boom (Spirit Of Boom) right on the line.  She cost $190,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Sale and has now banked over $334,000.

“She’s deep into this prep and it looked like she might to ready to go out after a poor run here in July,” Maher revealed.  “We decided to reset and freshen her up and brought her back in distance.  She was a bit unlucky last week and Logan was a bit critical about the ride.  But it was a good steer today and he’s got a very bright future.”

Bates admitted they got tangled up at a crucial stage at Moonee Valley last Saturday.  “I got it wrong the other day and I would just like to thank Ciaron and the connections for giving me another opportunity.

“We had a lovely run in transit and luckily there was a bit of rain about which enhanced her chances.  She’s very straightforward and is a lovely ride.”

Oakland Park’s Neville and Susan Duncan sold Keep Your Cool through the Blue Gum Farm consignment to the Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne.  She is one of three winners for Cool Trade who was a record-breaking winner of the LR Scenic Blast Stakes (1100m) at Ascot in 2015.

Cool Trade was bred by Clare Downs Stud owners Norm and Jeannine Burren and she has changed hands more than once in retirement.  Mungrup’s Gray Williamson has bred a Blue Point (Ire) colt and Shooting To Win filly from Cool Trade in the last two years.  He sold the Blue Point colt to Spicer Thoroughbreds for $170,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in February.

Oakland Park stands Sessions (Lonhro) alongside Ingratiating (Frosted) and they are both priced at $9,900 (inc GST) this season.  For bookings or further details contact Neville Duncan (0417 200 097) or Adrian Brown (0438 944 299).
