Karnup trainer Adam Durrant prepared four winners at Belmont on Saturday and the first three came courtesy of Darling View Thoroughbreds and its Champion Sire Playing God.
Playing God fillies Playin’it Sweet and Black Ora opened proceedings and Darling View-bred graduate Hymns Of Eladdair (Oratorio) completed a hat-trick in the Westspeed Platinum Hcp (1200m).
Hymns Of Eladdair (5g Oratorio – Eladdair by Elusive Quality) was bred by Darling View Director Clive Atwell and sold for $190,000 to Rod and Tania Cosgrove at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions. Saturday’s win was the fifth in a 20-start career after opening his account in a Pinjarra maiden in August 2023.
Racing first-up under the steadier of 60kg, he came from the back of the field for Lucy Fiore to run down Go Go Grommet (Maschino).

“It’s a great day all-round and especially for the Cosgroves,” Durrant said. “They have been great supporters of our stable. First for Dad and now me.”
Rod and Tania also bred and race Playin’it Sweet with their daughters Jasmine and Georgia and she is the final foal from Geisel Park-bred mare Sweet Ora (Blackfriars). Based at Allanooka, the Cosgrove family operates three farms in the WA Wheatbelt.
“I held him up and that’s the way to ride him,” Fiore reported. “He trialled really good and was comfortable in the run today. I had a lot of horse under me and was able to pick my way through the field.”
Darling View had purchased his dam Eladdair for $34,500 at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale carrying Hymns Of Eladdair. She was a NSW provincial winner and her younger half-brother Kencella (Exceed And Excel) won to Group 3 level in the Maurice McCarten Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.
Second-dam Kentiara (Metal Storm) had scored Listed wins in the 2004 Detonator Stakes and La Trice Classic for Lex and Shirley Piper. They also bred and raced her older full-sister Kalatiara who had been a Group 2 winner of the G2 WA Guineas before transferring off-shore to win the G3 Royal Heroine Stakes at Hollywood Park.
Another sister Lacienne foaled Guest Wing (Right Wing) and he carried their orange and red colours to victory in the 2011 Perth Cup.
Hoofnote: Durrant’s fourth winner on Saturday was Greenfields Lodge-bred graduate Kay Tee Why (Nicconi) in the WAROA Trophy (1000m). He was a $30,000 bargain at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions Winter Yearling Sale and will be adding to his current bank-balance of $196,000 during the spring and summer carnivals.
