Elite Beau has firmed into a $7 second favourite for the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) next month on the back of a brilliant return in the Patten Hcp (1000m) at Ascot on Wednesday.

The Yarradale Stud-bred graduate looked an untapped talent winning an Ascot juvenile on debut in April and he’s on track to spearhead our 3yo colts in the sprinting division this season.  A possible showdown with top-class filly Talkanco (I’m All The Talk), who is a $6 favourite for the $500,000 Placid Ark, would highlight a star-studded card at Ascot on November 15.

Elite Beau (3c Brazen Beau – Burgoyne by War Chant) had his rivals covered a long way from home first-up at the midweek meeting.  He box-seated behind Yarradale-bred front-runner Spicy Thang (Toronado) before putting them away to score untouched by the best part of two lengths.

“He broke their hearts and couldn’t have made it look any easier for favourite backers,” Williams Racing posted on Facebook.  “He coasted to the line under hands and heels to stop the clock at 33.33s for his final 600m!

“The China Horse Club colours look to be in for an exciting campaign aboard this boy.”

Elite Beau was the top-priced colt at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions when sold by Yarradale for $375,000 to agent Suman Hedge acting with trainers Grant and Alana Williams on behalf of a China Horse Club syndicate.

Yarradale owner Lyn Sayers kept a share after stud manager Davy Hanratty rated him a standout in the Swan Valley.  “He wouldn’t be out of place in any sale around Australia,” Hanratty declared during pre-sale inspections.  “He’s a stunning physical and just oozes quality.”

Elite Beau is a younger half-brother to LR Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic (1400m) winner Cashel Palace (Street Boss) and their Belmont-winning dam Burgoyne foaled a colt by Playing God in August.

Burgoyne is a daughter of former Yarradale stallion War Chant (Danzig) who sired the Placid Ark winners Dance Music (2018) and Chantorque (2020),

Elite Beau continued a winning month for Yarradale Stud with resident stallion Shooting To Win siring six individual winners in a fortnight topped by his Group 3 mare She’s Bulletproof at the Caulfield Guineas meeting.

Yarradale graduate Dont Wait For Luck (Nicconi) prefaced that winning run in the Spud Shed Hcp (1600m) on the LR Kalgoorlie Cup (2300m) undercard that featured the $1 million Golden Saddle (1200m) and Yarradale Stud Ron Sayers Sprint (1100m).

Yarradale sold Dont Wait For Luck on behalf of breeder Ellie Giles for $60,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions Perth Winter Yearling Sale.  Giles has been a valued supporter of Yarradale stallions for many years breeding Group 1 Moonee Valley winner Silent Sedition (War Chant) and Group 2 Randwick winner Quilista (Scandal Keeper)

Shooting To Win and Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) stand for $5,500 fees (inc GST) at Yarradale Stud.   For all enquiries contact Davy Hanratty (0429 336 904).
