Amelia Park made the Top 10 leaderboard on Day 1 of the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale with a Home Affairs filly that was knocked down for $700,000 through the consignment from Segenhoe Stud.
She was bred by Amelia Park owner Peter Walsh from Group 3 winning racemare Dance Music who banked over $1 million during a career comprising 12 wins in 33 starts while in work with Ascot trainer Simon Miller. Home Affairs (I Am Invincible) is off to a flying start with his first crop on both sides of the Tasman and the Amelia Park filly was purchased by Archibald Racing in conjunction with William Johnson Bloodstock.
“We went hard on two yearlings by Home Affairs today,” Annabel Archibald said at the conclusion of the opening session. “The colt from Alriyah (Lot 44) cost $475,000 and we really opened our shoulders on his Segenhoe Stud filly out of Dance Music (Lot 203). Pictured
“We really place a lot of emphasis on what farm we buy from and Segenhoe is an unbelievable producer of black-type horses. We love this filly and the breeder (Amelia Park) has stayed in which is a good sign.
“She looks like a very fast two year-old. Her dam is a multiple stakes winner by War Chant (USA) and Segenhoe’s stats put more in your favour at the sales.”
Rob Archibald revealed there was plenty of competition around the Gold Coast sale-ring. “She’s a standout physical and some very good judges were on her hence the price-tag. She’s a great type and a lovely mover and we loved her from the minute we saw her.”
Archibald Racing also purchased an Extreme Choice – Absolut Glam filly for $430,000 and a Zoustar – Claire Bear colt for $320,000. Several NRL Brisbane Broncos stars led by experienced playmaker Ben Hunt were keen to buy in after their Grand Final win in 2025.
