Peters Investments segued from a seven-figure spend at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale earlier this week to win another city race with its Pierro-bred mare Glanced at Ascot on Wednesday.

Glanced (4m Pierro – First Impressions by Rip Van Winkle) had won a Bunbury maiden in the cerise and white silks in June last year before changing hands for $14,000 when Peters Investments reduced numbers at the Inglis August (Early) Online Sale.

Pierro (Lonhro) is a favoured stallion for Bob and Sandra Peters with their homebreds Arcadia Queen and Regal Power accumulating five Group 1 victories and they’ve been supported by Action (G2 WA Derby) and Arcadia Prince (G3 Scahill Stakes).

Glanced is now trained by Raquel Williams and has earned $50,000 in five starts for a Toby Roney-managed syndicate with more to come following a determined victory in the MCA Polytrack Hcp (2200m).  She sat one-out and one-back for Chanel Cooper and refused to lie down when tackled left, right and centre in the closing stages.

Williams thanked Peters Investments trainer Michael Grantham for his advice prior to buying Glanced.  “She’s a tough mare and I’m in debt to Micheal for giving me the heads up.  Chanel also gave her every chance today.  I told her to get in the three-wide line coming to the corner because she cannot get held up and not to stop riding until the fat lady sings.”

Glanced owns a typical Peters Investments pedigree as a daughter of G3 WA Oaks winner First Impressions (NZ) and her residual value continues to climb with Pierro off to a flyer as a broodmare sire led by this season’s G3 Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) winner Just Feelin’ Lucky (Justify).

Peters Investments fronted WA buyers at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale with a half-dozen successful bids for turnover of $1.03 million.

The So You Think filly from Pedicel (Redoute’s Choice) was the most expensive at $350,000 from the Hallmark Stud draft during Book 1.

Byerley Bloodstock’s Liam Peters secured the filly that was catalogued as Lot 35.  Peters Investments has strong links with Cox Plate Champion So You Think (High Chaparral) through Midnight Blue (G2 Perth Cup), Diamond Scene (G3 Eurythmic Stakes) and Opportunistic (LR Raconteur Stakes).

The filly’s dam Pedicel was a Canterbury 2yo winner for Lindsay Park and is a half-sister to Nettoyer who was a multiple Sydney Group 1 winner of a Doncaster Hcp and Queen of the Turf Stakes.  Her first foal Slipper Island (No Nay Never) won the LR City of Napier Sprint (1200m) at Trentham.
