There was a definite WA flavour about the Dawson Stud fillies that made a combined $420,000 at the Inglis Sydney Easter Sale on Sunday.
They were both bred by Myalup-based Graham Daws and sold through the draft from Newhaven Park. It’s been a fruitful partnership with several highlights including a Written Tycoon filly that made $120,000 at the 2019 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Named Kissonallforcheeks, she went on to earn over $1.72 million headlined by a Group 3 in the R J Peters Stakes at Ascot before transferring to Melbourne where she won to Group 2 level in the VRC Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington.

The Newhaven Park consignment to Riverside Stables paraded under the expert eyes of Murray Tillett who is an integral member of the Boorowa operation during the sales season. A renowned industry identity, Tillet was Goodwood Bloodstock Manager overseeing the Perth Yearling Sales before taking over as Magic Millions WA Manager in 2002.
They were both bought by Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy. The Dundeel – Rosie Rocket filly (Lot 50) sold for $320,000 and the So You Think – Temptacion filly (Lot 143) for $100,000.
The Dundeel filly is a half-sister to Kissonallforcheeks and was purchased (as agent) for My Racehorse Director Ben Willis who is a having a terrific run in the last twelve months with Willydoit (G1 NZ Derby), Apocalyptic (G1 ATC Flight Stakes), Ninja (G2 ATC Hobartvlle Stakes) and Space Rider (G3 MRC Manfred Stakes).
In addition to Gabbedy, Western Australian buyers purchased 8 yearlings for $3.34 million headed by Yarradale Stud’s four fillies by I Am Invincible ($800k), Justify ($600k), Capitalist ($350k) and Maurice ($300k).
Byerley Bloodstock purchased a Maurice filly ($360k) and Satono Aladdin colt ($180k) as agent for Peters Investments while Ascot trainers Stefan Vahala and Luke Fernie also went home with one apiece at Australia’s premier yearling sale on Sunday and Monday.
Vahala paid $500,000 on Day 1 for a Siyouni (Fr) filly out of Irish-bred mare Rasmiya (Galileo) from Yulong on behalf of Kyle and Brody Sutherland. Fernie parted with $250,000 on Day 2 for the Wootton Bassett colt from Canterbury winner Jazette (Fastnet Rock) offered by Yarraman Park.
