Promising 3yo filly Effortlessly has belied a $21 quote with an encouraging classic trial in the Bisley Workwear Hcp (1600m) at Belmont.

The Peters Investments homebred crossed from a wide gate to track King Of The Town (Flying Artie) and the two leaders took control on Saturday.  They fought out the finish with the filly getting home by less than a length in a race that went according to plan.

“The barrier doesn’t suit but we can afford to use Effortlessly a little bit early to get a better spot,” trainer Michael Grantham had predicted on Thursday.  “Her next run will be the Belmont Oaks in a fortnight so hopefully Saturday can top her off.”

Effortlessly (Photo / Western Racepix) has a second to none chance of becoming the third Peters Investments winner of a LR Belmont Oaks (2000m) in recent years following Mystery Miss (Animal Kingdom) and Cosmic Storm (Street Sense).

“She jumped and was travelling well enough to roll forward and then relax,” apprentice Cassey Martinan reported.  “She hit the line over 1400m last time and was on her toes today.  Michael has brought her up really well and I appreciate the opportunities he’s giving me.”

Peters Investments bred Effortlessly using Coolmore Stud shuttler Churchill (Galileo) over five-time Belmont winner Leading Girl (Reliable Man) who was also placed in a G3 Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) won by Peters Investments homebred Arcadia Queen (Pierro).

Leading Girl foaled Effortlessly first-up and followed up with two filles and a colt by Darley shuttler Ghaiyyath (Dubawi).

Peters Investments completed a Belmont weight-for-age feature treble last Saturday (June 13) with Western Empire (Iffraaj) in the G3 Strickland Stakes.  He had landed the first two legs in the G3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) and G3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m).

Startling Star (Pierro) was another Peters Investments-bred winner at the Strickland Stakes meeting and the cerise and while silks were back in the frame at Belmont on Wednesday (June 17) with another double courtesy of Enchanted Miss (Per Incanto) and Sweet Surrender (Pierro).
