The Belhus Racing ‘Time To Run’ syndicate was cock-a-hoop after cheering home Back To Bondi in the Bisley Workwear Hcp (1650m) at Belmont on Wednesday.
So were punters who backed him into a $3 favourite. “He was dropping in grade from the inside gate with a claim for Holly Nottle,” trainer Trevor Andrews said. “He led and was brave when beaten at Pinjarra last time so we decided to ride him a bit more conservatively today.
“Backing up off a seven-day break was the only worry but it turned out to be an easy watch. Peter and Karen Morley at Belhus Racing have been great supporters of the stable and this horse has been very consistent. He also has the scope to get over more ground.”
Back To Bondi (Bondi) was being touted as a classic type after winning at Ascot in February before Andrews called time on that campaign in March. He had been placed twice this time in before stretching out past a mile yesterday.
“We had a lovely run behind the leader Pure Mac (Maschino),” winning apprentice Holly Nottle reported. “He kicked off the corner and then put them away.”
Lynward Park bred and sold Back To Bondi for $100,000 at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions. His dam Black In Time by (Blackfriars) won six city sprints at Ascot (3) and Belmont (3) and was placed behind Ortensia (Testa Rossa) in the 2009 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) when it was still a Group 2.

Belmont’s midweek meeting kept up the new-season strike-rate for Lynward Park sire Bondi (Snitzel) and former Mungrup / Darling View stallion I’m All The Talk (Stratum).
Bondi opened his account for 2026-27 with Phat Chaps who was an odds-on winner of the Redink Homes Southwest Maiden (1600m) at Bunbury last Thursday. Like Mitch Pateman with Phat Chaps, fellow Ascot trainer Trevor Andrews believes Back To Bondi can get over ground this season.
I’m All The Talk filly Modern Girl won a Bunbury maiden on the penultimate day of last season before doubling up at Belmont yesterday for Sue Naylor and Jody Gray. Those wins came on either side of I’m All The Talk mare Vienna Calling winning her maiden for Andrews and David Houston at Pinjarra last Wednesday.
Bondi stands for a $6,600 (inc GST) fee at Lynward Park and stud manager Troy van Heemst can be contacted for bookings and further details 0439 957 111 or troy@lynwardparkstud.com.au
