Hot Chix Lane beat the rain and a scramble out of the gates to break through in the Morley Growers Market Maiden (1200m) at Belmont on Wednesday.
Stewards reported more than one runner was bumped on jumping and others were either unbalanced or raced keenly in a tightly bunched field. Meanwhile, Hot Chix Lane landed in the three-wide lane for Paul Harvey and tracked into the race behind grey mare Mt Magnet Gold (Bivouac).
The Amelia Park-bred graduate (Photo / Western Racepix) is a daughter of Too Darn Hot (GB) and she did best in a busy finish to defeat Arno River (Sandbar) and Mon Visage (Playing God) on a Good 4 before the track deteriorated to a Soft 6. “It was a nice ride and she hit the line although it took a while to get there,” trainer David Harrison said.
“She’s fit and doesn’t require much work so we will back off and get her ready for races out to 1300m and 1400m.”
Hot Chix Lane signed off last season with an on-pace second to Sharpassa (Sessions) at Bunbury on Australian Day and opened her account when facing the starter for the fifth time yesterday. She races for a Ladies Syndicate and was a $60,000 buy out of the Amelia Park draft to the 2024 Perth Magic Millions.
“We were lucky the way the race panned out,” Harvey reported. “It was a bit awkward but the more I asked, the more she gave.”
Amelia Park owner Peter Walsh bred her using Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) over Addie Lane (Street Cry) and that cross has an 86% strike-rate headed by multiple Group 1 winner Broadsiding.
Addie Lane was a $240,000 buy from Coolmore Stud (as agent) at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast. She is a full-sister to Sabatini (G2 MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes) and a half-sister to Vivi Veloce (G3 SAJC National Stakes) and is a perfect four winners in WA out of four foals from Amelia Park.
