The real All The Stars turned up at Belmont on Wednesday to score a front-running victory in the Bisley Workwear Maiden (1200m) for his managing part-owner and breeder Leigth Dawson.
All The Stars (Sessions) had been run down late when beaten by Unwanted News (Doubtland) at Pinjarra in July and expectations were high at Belmont last month before he bungled the start in the race won by The Rocket (Toronado). Stewards reported he was slow to begin and then over-raced three and four wide through the early and middle stages. He was never in the hunt but was back on his best behaviour third time out after being backed from $18 into $4.60.
“He was super first-up and there were reasons for that loss last time,” winning jockey Lucy Fiore explained. “He gave me a good feel today and was strong through the line.”
Coolup trainer Simon Barrass believes the next prep will be the making of All The Stars. “He’s a kind horse and has ability but is still learning and I thought he might have been underdone before a winning gallop on Saturday morning. He walked around like a toff today and it was a positive result although he doesn’t have to lead to win. We will give him one more start before a break and see where we’re at when he comes back in.”
All The Stars (4g Sessions – High Fidelity by Mosayter) was bred by Swan River Stud owners Leigth Dawson and her husband Howard. As the name implies, they’re right on the Swan River and have been based at Millendon for over 40 years. “We were thinking of winding down but High Fidelity is a robust mare and she has a 2yo filly and yearling colt by Sessions,” Leigth said. “We’ve been using Sessions over her because it gives the foals a double cross of Eight Carat.”
High Fidelity won at Ascot and Belmont and her first foal Lassoo The Moon (Sessions) won at Pinjarra first-up and was retired after just two starts. She has a 2yo filly by Manhattan Rain. The Dawsons had purchased second-dam Miss Fitting (Simonstad) back in 2007. She was bred by Dr Jack Woolridge who also owned the dam of mighty mare Sunline (Desert Sun).
Another mare at Swan River Stud is the Gerry Harvey bred Gold Buttons (Mossman). She has a 2yo filly by Sessions and a yearling filly by Ingratiating.
