Mt Hallowell Stud
Craig Thompson and the team at Mt Hallowell Stud in Denmark welcomed this colt by Yarraman Park sire Brave Smash (Jpn) from NZ-bred mare Corrs (Mastercraftsman) on 9 September.
Corrs won four races in Victoria up to 2400m at Sandown Lakeside for trainer Matt Cumani. She’s a blueblood and was an $80,000 bargain when sold by Daisy Hill Farm (as agent) to Mt Hallowell at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Her half-sister Irish Fling (Darci Brahma) won a Group 1 Telegraph Hcp (1200m) at Wellington and their dam Irish Belle (O’Reilly) is a three-quarter sister to Final Destination (O’Reilly) who was a Group 1 winner of the NZ 1000 Guineas (1600m) and Levin Bayer Classic (1600m).
Second-dam Society Bay (Zephyr Bay) was a Group 2 winner of the Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington and Veuve Clicquot Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley for her Kiwi owner-breeders Graeme and Peter Setchell.
Corrs is the dam of recent Dion Luciani-trained Pinjarra maiden winner Miss Santa Corrs (Santos). Her 2yo is a Brave Smash colt named Shifting Gears and her yearling is a colt by Shamus Award.
Willaview Park
Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) winner Kay Cee (Playing God) delivered a colt by Rommel at Willaview Park on 31 August.
He’s her fourth foal and the first, Tex ‘N’ Cee (Splintex), is knocking on the door after seconds at his first two starts at Northam in September. The Neville Parnham-trained 3yo gelding was retained by Greg and Kathy Edwards who bred and raced Kay Cee with Parnham.
Kay Cee followed up with a filly and a colt by Willaview-owned sire A Lot (USA) who stands at Westbury Park. The 2yo filly was passed-in for $130,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in February and the yearling colt is an outstanding type to match his pedigree.
Oakland Park
This sleeping beauty at Oakland Park has earned the nickname Lazarus. Some might say he’s a miracle after being resuscitated following an alarming ‘red bag’ delivery on 16 September.
He’s the second colt in a row by resident sire Ingratiating from LR Qld Tatts Gold Crown (2150m) winner Rebel Rama (Dissident).
“He received non-stop intensive care for the first five days,” Oakland Park’s Susan Duncan said. “Fortunately, the dedication, hard work and passion of our staff helped kick-start the recovery.
“Lazarus is doing well now and is just like a normal foal kicking up his heels and bouncing about. Well done to our team. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Kelstar Park
This cracking filly by resident sire Hi World from Shake The Bloom is a younger full-sister to a 2025 colt bred by Kelly Davis. Their dam scored the last of her five wins in the Vale Dick Vincent Hcp (1650m) at Belmont in May 2022 for trainer Jeremy Easthope.
Shake The Bloom (Sessions) is a younger half-sister to Tick Tick Bloom (Viscount) who was a multiple black-type winner of the 2014 LR Belmont Guineas & LR Belmont Oaks and 2015 LR Bunbury Cup.
