It was par for the course for Peters Investments when Abissi kicked off a winning treble in the cerise and white silks at Ascot on Saturday.
Bob and Sandra Peters started October with Just Sublime (Justify) in the Goldfields on the first day of the month and then completed a feature double with Cosmic Crusader (G1 Turnbull Stakes) and Royal Law (LR Kalgoorlie Cup) last Saturday.
Treasured Legacy (Ole Kirk) was an odds-on winner for Peters Investments at Bunbury on Wednesday prior to Abissi (Ocean Park), Streamlined (Maurice) and Truly Loyal (Shooting to Win) stepping up to the plate yesterday.
Streamlined (Photo / Western Racepix) was a clear last at the 1200m mark in the Drummond Golf Hcp (1600m) and then went six and seven-wide on the corner to be into contention at the furlong.
“He can be a handful but the addition of a Norton Bit and Tongue Tie has helped him settle,” jockey Chris Parnham confirmed after a two-length win over I’m Nipote (Gingerbread Man) and Vexatious Rose (Universal Ruler).
“He’s been just lacking in confidence but the gear changes could see him go through the grades. He put them away like a nice horse today and will probably be more suited running down better horses in better company.”
Streamlined is by Arrowfield shuttler Maurice (Jpn) as is his former elite stablemate Cosmic Crusader. His dam Silverstream won a G2 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m) and her unraced 3yo Silverlake (Maurice) was runner-up to stablemate Arcadia Park (NZ) in a Lark Hill barrier trial last month. She also has a yearling filly by Maurice and a filly foal by Pride Of Dubai.
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed Cosmic Crusader will line up in the G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) next Saturday, October 17. “I would say he will get the trip and it should all work out,” Peters said. “He ran through the line in the Turnbull and that showed us that hopefully he can do it.”
Cosmic Crusader is a pronounced $4.50 favourite for the Caulfield Cup and it’s a race connections have been keen to win ever since their star stallion Congressman (Ksar) was beaten a lip by Imposera (Imposing) in the 1988 Caulfield Cup.
