Capable Angel notched a second provincial cup this year for Forest View Farm owners Ben and Jo Duncan as a short-priced favourite in the $30,000 Toodyay Cup (1850m) on Sunday.

Capable Angel (5m Playing God – Miss Kincaple by Pentire) has been in super touch this prep winning twice at Belmont before adding the Toodyay trophy yesterday.  It’s been an amazing turnaround since the Duncans bought the 13-start maiden mare for $25,000 at the 2025 Inglis February (Early) Online Sale.

Now with south-west couple Brandon and Lucy Fiore, she started a $2.20 favourite and enjoyed a sweet run after being shouldered wide by Desert Edge (Fiorente) going out of the straight the first time around.  “She was keen early and my feet were on the dashboard but it actually worked out well,” Lucy Fiore reported.

“She recovered and we landed one out and one back.  She tracked up the hill and then peeled off heels to win really well.  She’s tough and strong and will get further.”

Capable Angel (Photo / Western Racepix) scored by over a length from Ilgiro Delmondo (Oratorio) and Lakeview Lightning (Dash For Cash).  The victory came a week after Playing God received another provincial prize courtesy of veteran sprinter Lacevinsky who was named Carnarvon Horse of the Year.

Her dam Miss Kincaple (Pentire) was purchased by Bernard Stapleton at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale and she is a full-sister to Kincaple who won a G3 Strickland Stakes and LR Kalgoorlie Cup.

Filthy Habits (6g I’m All The Talk – Dirty Vegas by Lucky Owners) collected Forest View Farm’s first provincial cup this year in the Albany Cup (2100m) in April and he followed up in the Rogan Josh Hcp (2100m) at Ascot in May.

Brandon Fiore prepares Filthy Habits and Lucy steered in both wins for a partnership that includes her father Justin Warwick and Forest View’s Ben Duncan who pinhooked him as an August yearling for $25,000 at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale.

He toured the Swan Valley sale-ring six months later at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions when Warwick bought him for $80,000.  Duncan kept a share and there are plans to set him for the G2 Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day – 12 years after Warwick won it with Black Tycoon (Blackfriars).
