Pearce Racing sent out four runners in the Nelson Irrigation Maiden (1000m) at Bunbury on Australia Day including the $2.65 favourite Deepest Desire (Deep Field) but it was $13 stablemate Pariah’s Thanks who swept home from last to score by over a length.
Pariah’s Thanks had made her debut on the last day of the 2024-25 season when finishing midfield in a Bunbury nursery won by Circus Angel (Trapeze Artist) before going out for a spell. She closed late for an encouraging fourth first-up behind Lovin’ On Me (Magnus) at Albany earlier this month and went right on with the job on Monday.
“They weren’t making ground that day at Albany so it was a good run under the circumstances,” co-trainer Dan Pearce said. “We didn’t really know what to expect today but she has shown us ability behind the scenes at home.”
Pariah’s Thanks was bred by Chris and Andrea Gales and sold for a budget-priced $6,000 through their consignment from Gervase Park to the 2024 Magic Millions Winter Yearling Sale. She’s by Queensland-based sire Pariah (Redoute’s Choice) and her bottom-line has generated WA black-type winners going back to third-dam Nishikawa (Fuji Kiseki).
Nishikawa was covered every season for 20 years between 2004 and 2023 and the best of her progeny have been the Gervase Park-bred Listed winners Rokanori (J C Roberts Stakes) and Takanori (Bunbury Breeders Classic). The latter is the second-dam of Pariah’s Thanks.
Chris and Andrea also bred and sold Western Ace and Our Naughty Secret to win on successive Saturdays at Ascot earlier this month. They are both from the final crop of I’m All The Talk and both are graduates of the 2024 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale. Western Ace sold for $170,000 to Trevor Andrews and Our Naughty Secret to Commercial Bloodstock’s Noel Carter for $60,000.
Gervase Park has entered 14 lots for the 2026 Perth Magic Millions and among the draft updates is the A Lot filly from Time and Truth (Lot 290) who is a half-sister to Our Naughty Secret.
