Rommel mare My Harv presaged a winning weekend for Mogumber Park with a convincing victory in the Drummond Golf Hcp (1600m) at Ascot last Wednesday.

Mogumber Park followed up with a Rommel double on Saturday with its graduates Maria Lucia and Battle Commander who were conceived when the Commands stallion was based at the Bullsbrook stud with Colin Brown and Fiona Lacey.

My Harv was perfectly positioned by Jordie Turner behind Sideshow (Trapeze Artist) and Real Senor (God Has Spoken) before engaging the leaders in the straight and then going clear to score by over a length for a partnership managed by Forrest Thoroughbreds.

Her dam The Other Harv (Elvstroem) won 8 races up to 2000m in Perth for trainer Alan Mathews and she also earned black-type when placed a LR York Stakes (1600m) at Ascot.  “She struck some bother last start but there were no problems in the run today,” Turner said.  “She needs more ground and gives me the impression she will stay.”

My Harv was a TBWA Winner Of The Week in December but there has been a very sad changing of the guard between the victories.  She was previously prepared by Group 1 winning trainer Colin Webster who died on January 18 and his son Col jnr has taken over the reins at their Ascot stable.

“Thanks to everyone in racing who has given all their love to our family and all the staff at home who have been amazing,” he told The West Australian after leading in his first winner.  “We have just got to keep ticking over for Dad and I’m sure this will make Mum feel happy. Love you Mum.”
