Geisel Park owner Eddie Rigg has been well served standing proven Group 1 sires like Manhattan Rain but he took a different tack buying Aysar off the track after his final start for Lindsay Park.

Aysar (pictured) came highly recommended and there’s been a reassuring response to his first yearlings leading into the Perth Magic Millions Sale next week.  Geisel Park manager Conor Dunlop is prepping 7 of the 25 lots entered and he’s been a fan since Day 1.

“Walk into a paddock and you can pick the Aysar yearlings straight away,” Dunlop said earlier this week.  “The consistency across the board is very encouraging.  Size, shape and temperament.  Top stallions stamp them and so does Aysar.

“Our first is an attractive colt from Indi Pacific (Lot 12).  His older half-sister Elegant Indi has won twice this season and it’s the family of our (LR) Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) homebred filly Laced Up Heels.

“The Aysar filly out of Rosebank (Lot 70) will be one of our top-sellers.  She’s a class act from a mare we bought at the 2021 Magic Millions National Sale.”  Rosebank is also the dam of the Lindsey Smith-trained 3yo filly No No No No No (Yes Yes Yes) who has been nominated to debut at Werribee next Tuesday (February 17).

Geisel Park’s Aysar – French Quarter colt (Lot 178) is the first foal from a half-sister to G2 WA Guineas (1600m) winner Storyville.

“He’s as good as any of the yearlings we’re taking to the Magic Millions,” Dunlop claimed.  “He owns the right pedigree with size and substance and will be a hot commodity.”

Of the Day 2 entrants, the powerful, August-born Aysar – Don’t Call Me colt (Lot 341) can be a standout according to Dunlop.  His dam is a full-sister to Rebelson (Snippetson) who was a 2yo winner for Darren McAuliffe and trained on to win a LR Fairetha Stakes and LR Aquanita Stakes.

Dunlop has never been busier since Aysar arrived at Myalup and he reiterates all the good judges who dealt with the colt / stallion beforehand.

Aysar was a 2yo winner at Sandown Lakeside and trained on for Lindsay Park to claim an all-important black-type victory in the Listed MVRC Chautauqua Stakes (1200m).  “He’s a lovely, lengthy horse with a terrific motor,” co-trainer J D Hayes declared.  “And it was just so good to see him put them to the sword at Moonee Valley.”

Leading bloodstock agent John Chalmers sealed the stud deal for Geisel Park in 2023.  “He’s the best-credentialed sire prospect to cross my desk in the last 10 years or more,” Chalmers explained.  “I feel most fortunate to have been able to secure a horse of his quality for Geisel Park.”

Bred at Torryburn Stud, Aysar is a son of Champion sire Deep Field and is a half-brother to Coolmore Stud’s leading first-season sire Home Affairs (I Am Invincible).  “I foaled down Aysar,” Torryburn manager Melissa Copelin recalled.  “I loved him and he was always a cracking looker.

“There were a few of our leading trainers on him when he sold for $260,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.  I’ve seen photos of the Aysars in WA and they’re clones of the Home Affairs.”

One of WA’s most respected studmasters went out on a limb predicting Aysar can become the cornerstone of our industry if his foals are any guide.  That first crop from Geisel Park are located in Barns F, H & I at the Magic Millions Sales Compex and Conor Dunlop can be contacted for further details on 0447 434 735.
