Lynward Park’s black-type bred 3yo geldings Bondi Lifesaver and Wynn Las Vegas are brimming with potential and that was plain for all to see when they stepped up to the plate at Pinjarra on Thursday.
Bondi Lifesaver is a son of Lynward Park resident Bondi (Snitzel) and he looked a stayer in the making first-up in the Hygain Edge Hcp (1200m). “He put the writing on the wall winning a Belmont trial last week and ran right through the line today,” jockey Chris Parnham said. “He showed glimpses of ability in his first prep earlier this season and had their measure here.
“He took a while to build through the gears and was at his best in the final 100m. He’s bred to get 2000m plus so it’s good to see him effective over a shorter distance.”
Bondi Lifesaver is a half-brother to LR ATA Stakes (2200m) winner Queen Alina (Mahuta) and Lynward Park sold him for $100,000 at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions to trainer Neville Parnham and stable client Colin Loxton.
They combined to win two G1 Kingston Town Classics (1800m) with Playing God (Blackfriars) and the Darling View Thoroughbreds champion continues to be an influence through Bondi Lifesaver’s dam High Aims (Southern Image). At the 2025 Perth Magic Millions, Lynward Park sold her Playing God colt to Parnham for $300,000 and at last month’s Perth Magic Millions they sold her Playing God colt to Jason Miller for $80,000.
Wynn Las Vegas completed the Lynward Park double with a runaway victory in the Scarpside Maiden (1600m) and the margin was a deciding factor in his favour for our latest TBWA Winner of the Week.
He’s a homebred for Lynward Park’s van Heemst family and won eased down by the best part of five lengths from Peters Investments mare Midnight Star (Zoustar). Punters backed the free-wheeling chestnut into an odds-on favourite despite a first-up failure at Pinjarra last month when stewards reported he was slow to begin and was impeded for clear running from straightening until the 250m mark.
Trainers Grant and Alana Williams replaced winkers with blinkers and Willie Pike ensured there would be no excuses extending to a mile at his fourth start. “He stepped clean today and I wasn’t going to ride him too pretty like last time. I don’t know about the opposition today but he did it easily in the lead and will only be better getting out further.”
Wynn Las Vegas is from the second crop of Gooree Park sire Yes Yes Yes (Rubick) and is the third foal from I’m Feeling Lucky (Bletchley Park) who won a G3 La Trice Classic (1800m) sporting the Lynward Park livery in 2018.
I’m Feeling Lucky foaled Belmont winner Lucky Landing (Mahuta) first-up and followed up with Opportunistic (So You Think) who claimed the LR Raconteur Stakes (1400m) and LR Belmont Guineas (1600m) in June 2025. Her 2yo filly Stepanenko (Wootton Bassett) was retained by Lynward Park and is also a Williams Racing trainee while her most recent foals are a yearling colt by Pierro and a weanling colt by Pinatubo.
