Awesome Rock gelding Outspoken Lad bagged a third country cup this season after defeating his Pearce Racing stablemate Decoration in the $70,000 Narrogin Cup (1900m) on Saturday.

It was also the second-leg of an international double for Awesome Rock after the Gold Front Thoroughbreds resident sired Awesome Lineup to win the Remembering Bruce Craik Hcp (1600m) at Riccarton Park.

Outspoken Lad (Photo / Western Racepix) is a first-crop son of Awesome Rock (Fastnet Rock) and Saturday’s result improved his bank balance to $426,000 which includes Westspeed Bonuses of $67,000.  He won the $60,000 Carnarvon Cup (2000m) in September and $100,000 Esperance Cup (2010m) in March.

Landing one-out and one-back for Kyra Yuill at Narrogin, he wore down Decoration after a brief duel before pulling away to win by more than two lengths.

Pearce Racing purchased him for $60,000 when catalogued by Gold Front through the Attunga Stud consignment at the 2020 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

His dam Out Spoken Lady (Galileo) also foaled Lady Cosmology (Universal Ruler) to win twice at Listed level in Perth before graduating to a Group 3 victory in the Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide.

On Saturday morning (Perth time), Awesome Lineup won first-up after arriving in New Zealand with trainer Joe Waldron earlier this year.  Formerly based at Pakenham, Waldron transferred his team to the South Island at Wingatui and, being an Otago boy, fitted right in with his partner Sarah Fannin.

“I won two races with Awesome Lineup over there in Victoria,” Waldron said.  “And we were expecting a good run on Saturday dropping back to a Rating 65.”

Awesome Lineup was bred by Troy Corstens who trained Awesome Rock in partnership with his father Leon.  He is one of eight winners from Royal Lineup (Viscount) who is a half-sister to LR ATC Dulcify Quality (1600m) winner Moqueen (Uncle Mo).
