They’reallsisters has signed off a successful season for Darling View Thoroughbreds stallion Splintex (Snitzel) with a win against the odds first-up in the Quayclean Plate (1200m) at Belmont.
The David Harrison-trained filly settled at the tail of a 14-horse field from the outside barrier and raced greenly in the straight but was still too good for the favourite Godspeed (Playing God) in the final 100m.
They’reallsisters (2f Splintex – River Hussy by Husson) had won an Ascot juvenile on the Australia Day weekend before finishing a three-quarter length second to Maria Lucia (Rommel) in the RL Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at Pinjarra in February.
“She’s strengthened while spelling and has been working a treat but it was hard to get too confident from that gate,” Harrison said as Paul Harvey brought the winner back to scale on Saturday. “We added blinkers today and she travelled into the race beautifully.
“She didn’t trial so will keep improving. She’s a carnival horse for sure and we will give her another couple of starts before a break.”
They’reallsisters (Photo / Western Racepix) was bred by Ridgeport Farm manager Marge Ojapold and she kept a share after the filly sold for $90,000 at the 2025 Perth Magic Millions to a partnership comprising Harrison, Ryan Fuller, Brad Willison and Grant Burns.
She’s a younger half-sister to multiple city winner Bold Hero (Rommel) and their dam River Hussy foaled a Splintex colt in October for Ojapold at Ridgeport Farm in Waroona.
Paul Harvey was suitably impressed first time aboard They’reallsisters. “I didn’t want to go forward and then get posted wide. They can take time to recover from a gut-buster on a soft track. We took our chances and she chased and kicked but it nearly went pear-shaped when she laid in halfway down the straight.
“She can do things wrong but, to her credit, she got the job done.”
Splintex will finish third on the WA 2YO Sires’ Premiership to Rommel and Gingerbread Man. He will also be a Top 10 freshman on the Australian First Season Sires’ Premiership with earnings currently over $470,000.
Darling View Thoroughbreds stands Splintex for a $7,700 (inc GST) fee alongside Champion WA Sire Playing God, Lightsaber and newcomer Royal Patronage (Fr).
