Maschino is off to a flyer this season siring 11 individual winners in August to share the lead in that WA category with Playing God.

The Alwyn Park resident kicked off with Flying Maradona (Northam) and followed up with Hey Pino (Belmont), Hype Machine (Bunbury), Ain’tsobad (Bunbury). Charino (Belmont), Street Maschino (Broome), Dandy’s Gem (Belmont), Publicise (Pinjarra), Consolidated (Pinjarra), Common Touch (Belmont) and Secretchino (Belmont).

Maschino notched his first black-type victory in the Eastern States when his classic filly Machine Gun Gracie was successful in the LR Epona Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill in March and his headline horse Jokers Grin is ready to make an impact at the Sydney spring carnival.

Last year’s $5 million Kia Quokka (1200m) winner is back on deck after being hampered by a foot abscess that derailed intended campaigns in Sydney and Brisbane with Chris Waller.  He wintered in Queensland and resumed with a last-to-first barrier trial win over 822m at Warwick Farm a fortnight ago.

Jokers Grin missed the kick before railing up for Tommy Berry to defeat Group 1 winners Tempted (Street Boss), Jimmysstar (Per Incanto) and Mazu (Maurice) with only a half-length between the first four home.

“Tommy and Chris were both happy with his trial and he will probably have another hit-out before racing first-up later this month,” managing part-owner Mark Jones said.  Among several options is the $1 million G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on September 19.                  Jokers Grin and Tommy Berry return to scale at Warwick Farm / Photo: Georgia Young

Jokers Grin’s dam Walk In Beauty (Barely A Moment) also foaled Maschino’s G3 Northam Sprint (1100m) winner Cup Night earlier in her stud career and she has his 2yo filly that’s been broken-in by Bernie Miller and yearling colt that will be entered for the 2027 Perth Magic Millions.

Maschino (Encosta de Lago) stands at Alwyn Park for a $13,750 (inc GST) service fee alongside Minsk Moment (I Am Invincible) at $5,500 (inc GST).  For further information, contact John Andrew on  0419 929 483
