Peters Investments is on a roll with Arrowfield Stud shuttler Maurice (Jpn) ahead of the star-studded Group 1 meeting at Caulfield on Saturday.
Streamlined (Photo / Western Racepix) set the bar high for his latest campaign with a commanding first-up victory in the cerise and white silks at Belmont on Wednesday. He’s by Maurice as is fellow Peters Investments homebred Cosmic Crusader who has opened a $2.50 favourite for the G1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) tomorrow.
Streamlined (4g Maurice – Silverstream by Al Maher) saluted for favourite punters at the midweek meeting in the Lawn Pride Australia Hcp (1400m). He sat three-wide without cover and then forged clear to score by two lengths from La Excellence (Barbados) and Acta Non Verba (Blue Point).
“He settled but then saw daylight and couldn’t help himself,” Willie Pike said “There wasn’t a lot of speed so it wasn’t as bad as it looked out there. He’s a nice horse and can go through the grades now.”
His dam Silverstream won four black-type events to Group 2 level in 2017 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m). The mare’s unraced 3yo Silverlake (Maurice) was runner-up to stablemate Arcadia Park (NZ) in a Lark Hill barrier trial a fortnight ago. She also has a yearling filly by Maurice and a filly foal by Pride Of Dubai.
Streamlined was the second-leg of a winning double for Peters Investments, Pike and trainer Michael Grantham following Treasured Legacy in the Morley Growers Market Maiden (1200m).
Treasured Legacy (3f Ole Kirk – Prized Miss by Dundeel) was a beaten favourite on debut in a Bunbury nursery in March and she overcame trouble in running to get the job done second time out. Pike was unable to obtain clear running on straightening until approaching the 150m before improving into tight running where she brushed with Cachaca and Unimando.
Prized Miss was a Bunbury 3yo winner on debut and the dam’s older half-sister Irukandji (Dundeel) was a Group 3 winner of the 2018 Baillieu Hcp (1400m) at Randwick. Prized Miss has an unraced 2yo Ole Kirk filly named Diorama and a yearling filly by the Vinery Stud sire who was Australia’s Champion Freshman in 2024-25.
