The winners keep ticking over for Yarradale Stud residents Shooting To Win and Gingerbread Man and there’s been a pattern to their rivalry this month.
Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor) has got the jump on Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) every Saturday so far in September but his barn-mate has squared the ledger every weekend.
Truly Loyal (Shooting To Win) landed the first blow at Belmont on September 5 for Peters Investments only to have the former Colin Webster-trained gelding Order Online (Gingerbread Man) return serve within the hour at Fannie Bay.
Silvanito (Rosehill) and Fill A Promise (Morphettville) doubled up on September 12 for Shooting To Win before Bosun (Gingerbread Man) completed a hat-trick at Belmont for Mitch Pateman and his brother Jason.

Bosun will be favoured to win the $100,000 Westspeed Platinum Spring Final (1600m) this coming Saturday, September 26 and Main Act is another son of Gingerbread Man in contention for part-owner and trainer Bob McPherson.
Six Shooter (Shooting To Win) jumped the gun on the weekend just gone and he was courage personified getting his nose in front where it counted to nail the Gavin McSwain Hcp (1200m) at Belmont on Saturday.
Not to be denied, Gingerbread Man weighed in with Pembeton who was well overdue in the Diggers & Dealers Maiden (1617m) at Kalgoorlie on Sunday. Bred and part-owned by Ridgeport Farm’s Marge Ojapold, he’s an older half-brother to last season’s stakes-performed 2yo filly They’reallsisters (Splintex).
Yarradale Stud manager Davy Hanratty reports the early PPT results for both stallions are well into the affirmative again. And another positive update is news Lady Valorem (Ad Valorem) has foaled a Shooting To Win colt for his wife Susan.
“He was her fifth foal in a row so she’s having a year off,” Hanratty said. “The colt is a strong athletic type with plenty of scope. Her first foal Red Fifty Three (Gingerbread Man) won 7 races in Perth and over $400,000 in prizemoney.”
Lady Valorem’s 2yo is a Gingerbread Man colt with Luke Fernie and her yearling is a Gingerbread Man filly who will be entered for the Magic Millions Sale in February.
