Racing WA is excited to host welfare authority Julie Fiedler for an interactive presentation on four key areas of animal wellbeing.

Julie, who is currently undertaking a PhD in sports horse welfare at the Melbourne Veterinary School, University of Melbourne, will provide insights into the latest knowledge of:

Changing public expectations about animal care and the social license to operate.
The Five Domains model for animal welfare assessment adopted by various racing authorities.
Reviewing current practices, focusing on providing positive experiences for animals.
Considering what a collaborative model of care means for animals during and after racing.

The free workshop is open to all three codes and will be held in the Ascot Racecourse Directors Lounge (70 Grandstand Road, Ascot WA 6104) on Tuesday, 16 January 2024, from 12:30pm to 3pm.
