Ridgeport Farm owner Santo Guagliardo has a busy schedule with the move to Waroona but there was still time to cheer home an interstate double with Berry Foxie (Mt Gambier) and Linden’s Gold (Northam) last Wednesday.

Berry Foxie is a daughter of Ridgeport Farm sire Rommel and she’s on a hat-trick after wins at Donald and Mt Gambier for trainer Henry Dwyer.  “She got lost when left alone out in front so far from home but was good enough to get the job done,” Dwyer said following the Elders Insurance Hcp (1812m) last week.

“There was a lot of merit to the win.  She did it really well and I’m sure there was much more in hand if another runner could have gone with her.  There’s no doubt she’s going to get 2000m

“It was the manner in which she did it that was most pleasing.  She coped with the travel really well and didn’t turn a hair.  She can win again before going out for a spell.”

Guagliardo bred Berry Foxie and she is the final foal of former Yarradale Stud mare Strawberries (Strategic) who is from the immediate family of Raspberries (G3 VRC Frances Tressady Stakes) and Yarradale millionaire Valour Road.

Rommel’s interstate gallopers also include recent Toowoomba Cup winner Military Gambler and his Hong Kong-based miler Tourbillon Prince was nailed a nose by Ivy League (Galileo) in the Hang Hau Hcp (1620m) at Happy Valley last Wednesday.

Tourbillon Prince was known as Pale Rider when runner-up in last year’s G2 WATC Derby (2400m) won by Alaskan God and he is set for a successful career under that new monicker for trainer Benno Yung.

Locally, Linden’s Gold is also on a hat-trick following wins at Northam this month for Takahide Ikenushi and Paige Kenney.  The lightly-raced 3yo was bred by Guagliardo using Akeed Mofeed (GB) over his multiple Morphettville winner Gold Denari (Roman Emperor).

Guagliardo and trainer Lloyd Kennewell had purchased Gold Denari as a yearling at the 2015 Adelaide Magic Millions.  Linden’s Gold was her first foal she was subsequently sold to David and Doris Keens to produce a filly by Rommel and a colt by Awesome Rock.

Ridgeport Farm stands Rommel (Commands) for a $6,600 service fee (inc GST).  For bookings or further information, please call Santo Guagliardo (0419 948 046) or Marge Ojapold (0497 478 231).
