Peters Investments and trainer Donna Riordan struck for the second time in a week with a homebred 4yo mare when Secret Attraction turned the Amelia Park Hcp (1800m) into a one-act affair at Ascot on Saturday.

Secret Attraction was a Northam mile maiden winner for Durrant Racing in June and appreciated another furlong and the addition of blinkers on the final day of The Pinnacles.  “That was a super win and I was very confident she would let down off the corner,” Riordon said.  “She has been unlucky since coming to us at the start of this season.  She hasn’t been travelling that well so we decided to add blinkers.

“She was much keener today and Chris (Parnham) had her one-out and one-back on the bridle.”

Bob and Sandra Peters bred Secret Attraction from Impassioned (Redoute’s Choice) who also won a Northam maiden carrying the cerise and white silks in October 2015.  During a single-season racing in Perth, Impassioned earned black-type when placed in the LR Challenge Stakes (1500m) the following February and was sent to New Zealand after a midfield finish behind Peters Investments star Arcadia Dream (Domesday) in the LR Natasha Stakes (2200m).

Her older full-sister Tranquility won the LR La Trice Classic (1800m) in 2010 and their dam Creatrix (Umatilla) won the LR Belmont Guineas (1600m) in 2003.

“All I had to do was get her into the clear and she did the rest,” Parnham said after returning to scale on Secret Attraction.  “She should go through the grades and there will be some nice races to target in preps ahead.”

Regal Statue (Nicconi) was another Peters Investments homebred 4yo mare to win for Riordon last week in the SBS Computers Hcp (1200m) at Pinjarra on Wednesday.  She had claimed an Ascot maiden first-up last month after commencing her career with Micheal Grantham.

Her dam Avenida Madero (Metal Storm) won the G2 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m) in 2005 and at stud foaled the Peters Investments headliners Graceful Girl (G1 Winterbottom Stakes) and Respondent (G2 WATC Derby).

Peters Investments also won the Evergreen Turf Hcp (2400m) with Regal Power (Pierro) at Caulfield on Saturday and will be gunning for some overdue black-type in Perth with Diamond Scene (So You Think) at Ascot on Wednesday.

Diamond Scene is unbeaten in four starts this season and Riordon is hoping he can nail a picket-fence in the LR ATA Stakes (2200m) in a final dress-rehearsal for the G2 Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day.
